About this work
A long row of slender female figures stand next to each other with their arms in the air, hands above their heads. They wear long dresses that dissolve into the paint downwards. The faces are not elaborated, it's about the gesture: together, lifted, festive. The sculpture exudes solidarity and a quiet joy.
The dresses change colour: purple, ochre, gold, turquoise and ivory, in a rhythmic sequence from left to right. The background is light and weathered, with scratches, drips and layers of paint in beige, white and soft blue. At the bottom, the colours are intertwined, as if the figures are growing up from the ground. The wide format makes it a frieze.
Ideal above a sofa, dining table or in a long hallway, or in a space where people gather.
